ARTSY ARCHITECTURAL VIDEOS
Carrboro architect Sophie Piesse hired me to create two video submissions for the 2023 George Matsumoto Modernist Architectural Prize (see below links). I’ve always admired her work, so I was excited to be able to help elevate her already esteemed work.
For each video, I examined many still photos of the home, and then I interviewed Sophie for an hour about her process, the home owners’ goals, and the homes themselves. I then laid out the images in the most logical and visually pleasing way in iMovie, before using the interview notes to create a 2 minute narration of the home, for Sophie to record. Then, I added all of the layers together—the images, recorded narration, and appropriate background movies—to create a 2 minute video, with custom title and end pages.
Sophie loved the results. The competition was stiff, but Sophie is so happy with the exposure the Matsumoto gave her and her work, and now she has these perfect little video packages to share. In two minutes, a potential client can come to understand her work—her attention to detail, her ability to listen to her clients, her creativity and professionalism.
There is nothing generic about Sophie’s prjects, and she trusted that I could write and produce video that enhanced her work and reputation. In fact, she’s already hired me to make another one.
